How do tags work?

I am using this blog for a class and I need to be able to find posts by date. I have found where to tag things; however, I don’t know how to search for tags rather than categories or titles. Do I just need to title everything with the date? That doesn’t sound like the best idea. Please help.

You can see all of your posts and the date published by going to My Sites > Blog Posts
At the top of that screen there is a search box, if you enter a tag previously used in one of your published post it should result with the corresponding post.
This list view also shows you the posts from newest to oldest.

Thank you for your advice, but I have already tired that. The search bar does not seem to access my tags. I have searched for a tag multiple times and I always get a “there’s nothing here message.” I can go through my tag list widget to find things. But if the search bar does not function to pull things up by tags, I’ll just remove it.
