How do we set up a website?

We want to build a website on WordPress.com and we keep getting information about blogs. We don’t want to set up a blog we want to build a website.

See if the Learn WordPress guide helps. As you read through it and learn the nuts and bolts, you will soon realize how you can also use it as a website publishing tool.
The bottom line is that if you don’t want to use WordPress to blog, you can create a bunch of static pages instead of creating posts. One thing to note however, is that using the hosted version of WordPress through WordPress.com, does have its limitations. A website with purely static pages should be very doable, but if you need more extended functionality, perhaps the self-hosted version of WordPress (through WordPress.org) might be best.

How do you perceive the difference? A blog IS a website. Tell us what you want to accomplish and we will tell you how to do it on WP, but you have to be more specific than “build a website.”
