How do we upload tex files now?
-
I haven’t logged into this account since the upgrade. Now that I have I can’t see where to upload text files. Where it says Add Media, I clicked all the new symbols but neither of them gives text files as an allowed file type. Unless it’s completely under my nose somewhere.

I was able to add a file under the “media” star. It allows you to add files with a .doc file extension. So, I was able to add a Word document. But, I didn’t see a way to add a file with a .txt file extension either.

WordPress now considers doc, .txt, .ppt, .pdf to be “media” files. Just use the image uploader (add an image), it works for all of them.
I’m understand that the Naming Police will be round to talk to WordPress.

Hmmm, I’ve uploaded .txt files before, but it won’t take them now. I guess they’ve quite allowing them. Give it a try with .doc and see if it will let you, otherwise you might have to change it to a .doc or perhaps put it on box.net and then link to it.

I added .doc to the end. So I go to open it and things pop up that I’ve never seen before. Then I see it’s on Microsoft Word Document. I’ve never used that. Microsoft Office Standard Edition 2003 thingy pops up asking for my user name, initials, organization, and product key. Yeah, like I know what this means.

I wonder if Photobucket uploads text since they upload both image and video. Be right back!

Hi,
I just had the same problem. I solved it in this way: I uploaded the file as “media”. Then I pressed “insert media-file” and copied the link from the gallery. Now the file is linked and can be downloaded. [Not the best way, but it works] -

thesacredpath, thanks for recommending box.net! I checked it out and found out I can upload a page there. So now I can have live previews of my layouts if I wanted to. I never knew where to upload entire pages before until now!

Support is closed and I’m rarely on during the morning and afternoon hours to send in a support question. But will the previous uploaded text files stay or will they eventually be deleted? :(
