How do you add a line break in a blockquote?

In my theme (maybe even others), when I only have one line (the line seen in the actual blog) between the blockquote tags, the quotes clipart next to the text is cut off. The entire picture is shown when there are two lines.

However, you can’t always have two lines. I tried adding one more by using
in the blockquote tags, but it didn’t work. What can I do?

Oh, it didn’t show, but I used the line break tag.

Try adding some padding above a single line blockquote (in HTML).
