How do you add a paypal button since there is no longer a html editor
-
Cant add paypal donate button. Thanks to the removal of the HTML button, when I paste some HTML code in, ie my paypal donate code, as soon as I click post nothing shows up, and when I go back to edit the post all that is there is a paypal button gif link. All of the rest of my code is deleted. Sick of these stupid new wordpress “Features”.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Thankyou! I finally got it working, its just stupid because ive always used the html code, its only recently theyve stopped allowing users to edit the html, which is making me move to another alternative hosting site, but this workaround will work for now until I migrate over. Thanks

Not sure what you mean by this. On WPcom, both the New Dash Post Editor and the Classic Post Editor in your site’s Dashboard both have access to directly editing HTML via the Text tab that appears there.
However, there are certain code restrictions on WordPress.com and honeysilvas has given you the support doc for creating and embedding a PayPal button.
If you don’t see the Text tab in the Post Editor, please let us now what browser and version you are using.

I do see the text tab, but that used to be a html tab. A couple of months ago the last time I made a post to one of my sites, and all the times before that for years I always used html in the ‘html’ tab just fine, I never used to have these restrictions. Also most of the old tutorials for adding things like paypal buttons used the full html code, and now since the html tab has been replaced by this text tab, this method no longer works, and the code gets deleted. Hope that makes sense

Not to argue the point, to the best of my knowledge the code that PayPal generates has never worked on WordPress.com. We’ve only been able to embed a PayPal button using the instructions from the WPcom Support document.
The HTML tab went away a long time ago, to be replaced by the Text tab. The tab name seems only to be semantics since the ability to write HTML in the Text tab hasn’t changed. This is a reflection in the change that took place in WP core.
As I mentioned above, WordPress.com has always had code restrictions, even since I signed up 8 years ago. You can read more about it here. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

Well I dont want to argue but trust me, I definitely had always used the code option before the removal of the html tab, to be honest I havent used wordpress in quite some time since so I have no idea when that tab changed but yeah, anyways thanks everyone for the help, working now
