How do you add Counters and other web links to your page??

    I have been blogging 3 days and I figured out how to add to my blog roll but can not figure out how to add links to other web site or how to add a counter at the bottom on my blog. I can get as fare as copying the html of what I want to add but what do I do with it??? Also I am getting an error when I try to add images or video to my post. I knew this was going to be a challenge but I spent almost all day yesterday trying to add stuff.
