How do you add links and pictures when commenting on a blog entry?

I am trying to answer a poster who commented on one of my entries by including a button I made for them. The problem is that the code doesn’t work. Nothing shows up or the entire code shows up but not the picture. Is there any way to add links in comment areas? I only have formatting options if I try to edit a comment on my blog.
On a similar note, I have noticed whenever commenting on someone else’s blog that I do not have the option of formatting my entry such as adding Italics, bold, a picture and/or link.
Your help would be very much appreciated. I performed numerous searches and was unable to find anything of relevance.

You can’t. It’s text only, with a very few formatting tags allowed; those are generally in small print near the comments box. No pictures. You can make links live by using the proper HTML, so yes, you can add links. You can add a link to the image, but not display the image.

I don’t see the formatting tag options near the comments box that you describe. Is that skin specific?
As for adding live links, I tried it and it works so thank you. :)

I think it is theme-specific. You can use blockquote, a href, i, and b. That’s pretty much it.

I just tried all of the above on my skin ChaoticSoul and they work.
