How do you change the name BLOGROLL on a Links Widgit when it is installed?

I created a blogroll list of blogs I like in a Links Wigit and placed it in the Sidebar. The name at the top is BLOGROLL but I have seen Link widgits named something like “Favorite Web Sites” or “Favorite Blogs”. I have been studying this for hours and I’m lost and very frustrated with it. Thanks for your help

Hi, if you’re using the Link Widget, I believe the name used (“Blogroll”) is the link category name, which can be modified as explained here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/blogroll/link-categories/

I have tried to follow the instructions you provided but no results. I will try several more times but it is not clear to me what I need to do and what all the terms mean you are using. I think the process should be easier. I’ll keep trying and will keep in touch. Thanks, Jim

Yeah, I can see how that page can get confusing. Try this step-by-step tutorial:
1) In your Dashboard, choose Links -> Link Categories
2) On that page, to the right side you should see the “Blogroll” link category (Under the “Name” row).
3) Now, hover your cursor on top of that “Blogroll” text and below it there should appear the “Quick Edit” link. Click it.
4) It should now open a field where you can edit the “Blogroll” text. Enter the text you want, and save it.
That should automatically change the links title on your Sidebar.

That did it! It works! Thank you. You know, I’m somewhat embarrassed because I used to be a programmer/software engineer/technician for 40+ years on all kinds of systems. I taught C, C++, data bases, Basic, etc at the technical college level for 5 years. I have 3 software patents while at AMD and our team was designing, testing, and manufacturing the K5, K6 and Athlon superscalar microprocessors. (Look at the US Patent web site and search for James A Treadway and AMD) and I couldn’t figure out how to do this. I’m getting to old to figure out this stuff. Again, Thanks for your help

That was a long time ago and I haven’t done any serious programming since 1999. I was on top of my game back then and was at the right lace at the right time. Most of my s/w work for several customers was user interface to microprocessors, data bases, other hardware systems. I loved it because I understood interfaces between the user and a complex device pretty well. Sometime wordpress doesn’t do that very well – it could be alot easier to use. BTW, my s/w at AMD was the first piece of s/w we ran on 1st silicon for microprocessors when everything is an unknown. My Hardware Debug Tool was about the only tool that chip designers and hardware debug engineers could use to identify the bugs. It was a blast. Good luck in your career sir – you done good with me and I appreciate it.
