How do you change the url of a blog post?

I’m wondering if there is a way to change the url of a blog post? If so, how would go about doing this?

    Thanks in advance.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You go to Posts > All Posts, hover over the post title and click Quick Edit. If you want to change the date, you change it in the Date pulldown and fields then click Update. If you want to change the part before the date, you change the Slug then click Update. Note that if the slug is more than one word, the words must be joined by dashes and there must be no other punctuation marks.

And I suppose you are aware of the fact that changing the URL of a published post will create broken links if others have linked to that post.

The basic structure of the URLs (permalinks) cannot be changed at wordpress.com and are actually very solid from a search engine optimization standpoint.

This part of the structure is set and cannot be changed:

    opposablethumbz.wordpress.com/2012/01/04/

What can be changed is the very ending, the “slug” which represents the name of the post (bold below).

    opposablethumbz.wordpress.com/2012/01/04/rip-internet-explorer-passes-away/

That can be changed by clicking he “edit” button under the title in the post editor. A word of caution though. Never change the slug on a post that has already been published. If the search engines have indexed that post then when you change the slug, that creates a 404 error in the search engine indexes and too many of those and they can quit indexing your site entirely.

    You’re welcome.
(Naturally “the part before the date” in my reply should read “the part after the date”).
