How do you configure DNS records for email forward?

  • Unknown's avatar

I have my own domain mapped to WordPress but I’m trying to get email forward to my gmail account set up using a virtual id ((email visible only to moderators and staff)). I’ve been in the documentation but still confused on how to configure the DNS records. Can I get some help? Thanks. Jeff.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’ve seen this. I still have questions. Do I just add the records to the existing ones or do I have to delete the existing DNS records? Here’s the link to the gmail DNS information.

How would I configure the records so that (email visible only to moderators and staff) gets forwarded to (email visible only to moderators and staff)? jeffharoldphotography.com is registered at NameCheap but I’ve mapped it to my WordPress domain and NameCheap can no longer forward email.

    Thanks.

    Jeff.

    Hi there,

So just to verify, NameCheap no longer handles your email? I want to verify that before I go in and start changing your MX records. If they do still handle your email, please let me know and we’ll talk about what other options you have!

Yes, as far as I can determine Namecheap cannot handle the email. Their documentation states that once I change the DNS servers to WordPress they can no longer handle email forwarding and I do not have a separate email account with them.

    Hi Jeff,

I went ahead and removed your previous MX records. Our system will now allow you to enter forwarders and when you do it should insert the correct MX record for our forwarder. If you run in to any issues, please let me know!

That works now. I tried a test email and it came through fine. I think we’re good to go.

    Thanks for your help.

    Jeff.
