How do you contact the Support Team?

  • Unknown's avatar

I have been trying for the last 20 minutes in trying to find an email address for the support team, and I keep going around in circles. I see how to contact security and the VIP team, but its impossible to reach out to anyone in support. Instead, a million anticipated questions are posted on there, but again, no way to contact – Support – if your questions doesn’t fit the parameters of the other pretyped and preanswered questions.

Therefore, does anyone now how I can email anyone from WordPress to ask one question??????

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Contact

Support is closed until March 1st. Why don’t you ask your question here. If we forum volunteers can’t answer it, we’ll tag it for Staff when they look in.

    Okay – thank you.

Here’s the problem. I want to post a video. A CNBC video on my blog, and CNBC provides the HTML code to embed on a blog or a website. However, wordpress doesn’t recognize it because when I copy the code in the HTML window and I hit preview, all it does is import the url link over. Therefore, unless its a Youtube video, or one of the other 2 selections they recognize, I can’t embed it, or is there another way????

Have you tried VodPod? You can post just about any video to your WordPress.com blog using VodPod’s “Post to WordPress” button. The “Post to WordPress” button will work on just about any site that offers Flash video with an embed code.

    Have you tried this?

The gigya shortcode 1 – inserting videos

  • Unknown's avatar

I tried to install the post to wordpress button, and that doesn’t work. I can only save it to my favorites. However, the window that eventually pops up asks for the url of the video. And the video I have is a very long embedded code. I thought this wordpress button was supposed to take thhe embedded code and convert it to a shortcode that I can copy and paste on whatever page I want on my blog?

Then I tried the gigya-shortcode. I follow the example to a T by copying and pasting segments of the html code as shown in the gigy-shortcode example. I paste the new code in my html window and nothing happens, other then the code showing up on my blog page without any video.

Could you please copy and paste the desired code between backticks (`)? We’ll do our best to help you make it into something that is WP.com compatible.

Here is the embed code – see below – as a sample. However, if there is no easy way to do this, I am going to seek some alternative way because I hate to keep coming on the forum trying to figure out how to do this. Word Press should really make this a much more friendlier and easier process.

    Thank you.

It looks like you forgot to use backticks (`) as I asked. But fortunately there were no “a” tags so the code remained intact. Please keep that in mind for next time. Thank you.

    This being said, try this:
    [gigya allowfullscreen="true" height="380" width="400" quality="best" wmode="transparent" scale="noscale" src="http://plus.cnbc.com/rssvideosearch/action/player/id/1193869595/code/cnbcplayershare"]

I’m sorry. Can you tell me what you mean by “backticks”? This is a learning process for me.

  • Unknown's avatar

I just tried it. Interesting, if I am not mistaken, I adjusted the code the same way you did. Anyway, I copied and pasted it into the html window and still doesn’t work.

Maybe you can refer this to Word Press Customer Support so that they are aware of it? I will in the meantime try to come up with something different.

    Thanks again.

No problem :-) Backticks look like a grave accent, like this ` ` . If you have a US keyboard, you press SHIFT plus the key that’s just left of 1 and just above Tab.

Let me know if the code I gave you earlier works for you.

  • Unknown's avatar

It looks like we posted at the same time. Try copying and pasting the code but re-typing the brackets. Or try again but in the HTML editor (not the visual one).

I modlook’d the thread for you staff may stop by if they get the chance.

@bpcfe: Sorry, you press the key that’s just left of 1 and just above Tab (no SHIFT…)

@bakeryee – duplicate posts just annoy and confuse those that might help you and upset the fabric of space and time, resulting in less help for you.

Can someone tell me if, and if so how, I can re-order the chronological order of my posts. I want to upload new posts but not have them appear first in visibilityon my blog.

    Thanks.
