How do you delete a profile?

  • Unknown's avatar

    I started my first blog last night, which will be devoted to news articles and interesting stories relating to my website business. Since it seemed simple I had the great idea tonight to set up one for my wife for her personal use; friends, family etc. I guess it automatically logged in to my business account from where I then set up another site for her using her preferred name. Now her account shows as a sub domain of my site. How can I delete tis site and start a new account under her preferred name and e-mail address without it affecting mine?

    Thanks in advance;

    You don’t need to do that.

    You need to “invite” your wife’s preferred identity to me the administrator of that blog. She needs to sign up with WordPress.com on her own, using her own email address.

    Then, you get her to delete you as administrator. Then the accounts are separate.

    Word of warning: search engines will have already connected the two of you. If it is vitally important that this new blog not be traced back to you, you’ll have to delete the blog entirely and start again with a new name, and you’ll have to start from HER email address and account.

    You can go to options > delete blog and then delete it there. Just make certain that you are deleting the correct one. Or, leave that one there (not hurting anything) mark it private and then while logged out of wordpress, go to the wordpress.com main page and start a new one with a new username and account.

    Thanks for the responses. I set up 2 sub-domains for her under “http://newhomeplans.wordpress.com”. They are “ruthspage”, which is her preferred name, and “ruthk”. How can I “invite” my wife’s identity to you as the Support link is temporarily closed?

    Thanks;

    From the first post you made, I am assuming that you created the blogs ruthspage.wordpress.com and ruthk.wordpress.com using your “newhomeplans” login. Is that correct? Has your wife used her email address to create a login account yet? If not, have her do that. Then, you would need to do the following:

    1) on ruthspage.wordpress.com blog Admin => Users go down to “Invite User From Community” and type in the email address of your wife’s account she created using her email address and put the role that you want to promote her as “administrator”.

    2) If the ruthk.wordpress.com is just redundant, you can either do the same as step one so that your wife has both blogs, leave it, or delete it. It really is up to you

    3) Once your wife is showing up as an “administrator” on that same users page for her preferred blog name (which I am assuming is ruthspage.wordpress.com), then you can get her to login to that blog and remove “newhomeplans” as a user on that blog. That is the process of getting that blog off your username.

    4) Repeat the 3rd step if you want your wife to have that blog as well, or simply delete it or transfer that blog to another user or whatever your plan would be for it.

    Does that make sense or am I missing something? The FAQ for this process is available at:

    Yes, I created both “ruthspage” and “ruthk” while I was logged in to “newhomeplans” without realizing they would be linked together. How can my wife create a login account using her e-mail address? I have been going around in circles for the last couple of days.

    Thanks;

    She just needs to go to WordPress.com and sign up there, using the big green button. She can select “just give me an identity” rather than “give me a blog” and then you can invite her to be the admin.
