how do you delete default widgets?

  • Unknown's avatar

WordPress added the meta and archives widgets automatically to my second sidebar, and I can’t figure out how to remove them. Elsewhere on this forum I read that you can remove them by adding widgets to the second sidebar, but this did not work for me. Instead, it just added my widgets to the space between the content of my blog and the second sidebar. Can anyone help?

Hello! To delete a widget go to appearance/widgets in your dashboard. Look for the widgets you’d like to remove in your second sidebar area.

To delete a widget, first open the widget up to access its settings by clicking the downward facing triangle. Once you’ve done this you should see a delete link – just click this.

Alternately, just dragging the widgets out to the left area of your screen will remove them from the sidebar area as well.

You can learn more about widgets here – http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/

    Hope this helps!
