When you ask a question here, PLEASE try a forum search. There are literally over a hundred threads with this exact title, and thousands of tips in the forum already. I know I seem cranky, but someone posts this question at least once every day, in both this forum and Off Topic.

I can offer what timethief and a few other regular volunteers here @ the forum offered me, and thus far, I have seen a great increase in traffic, and most certainly a few regular corresponding blog buddies.

Get out there and READ other peoples blogs, especially those which are along the same genre as your own topics or niche, and leave honest comments. Also follow any link back to anyone who reads and comments on your own blog…

And, my personal suggestion, is leave comments on the blog entries themselves…the ones that you ACTUALLY read…and avoid about page commenting, until you develop an on going blog sharing relationship with the other blog writer.

When the content is something that you enjoy, and truly can relate to, then you will probably find that you and the writer have a lot in common to share. This correspondence, and camaraderie will not hinder, or impose on one anothers blog topics/entries, or content…but, will inspire both parties to write more.

It really does work…and if the traffic doesn’t pick up drastically, believe me you wont notice that much, as you will have gained a blog pal, and will be spending a lot of time responding to one anothers post, after enjoying a great read.

And of course, as you probably know yourself…when you drop into a site which has a lot of on going threads …you want to at least leave a comment, and if possible join into the thread conversation….therefore, be the hunter…find blogs that spark your interest, and always respond Quickly to others comments On Your Site…as well as quickly going to and reading/commenting on one of their post…

So there you have it..just my opinion.

Use Twitter and use descriptive titles on your Twitter. People do search for certain words that leads them to people’s pages. I have religious conservatives following me many times after I mention the name Sarah Palin and we’re complete polar opposites.

To attract an initial traffic flow that will hopefully convert into regular readers and subscribers, new bloggers who have good writing skills need to focus on:
    1. Learning and understanding SEO (search engine optimization) and optimizing blog post titles, sub-titles, and keywords.
    2. Mastering use of the blogging platform that matches their goals and is easy to use.
    3. Choosing a niche and staying with it.

Interesting content is an attractor and in blogging content is king but promotion is queen. There are 10 standard tips to get traffic:
    (1) You need to have expertise in a niche.
    (2) You need to know how to write very well.
    (3) You need to verify your blog with search engines and structure a reader friendly and search engine friendly blog by learning how to apply basic SEO techniques.
    (4) You need to build an archive of high quality original content and keep adding to it.
    (5) You need to update your content frequently with new posts in order to hold reader interest.
    (6) You need to learn how to promote your content effectively through social media, social networks and RSS feed sites, thereby encouraging other bloggers to backlink to your posts.
    (7) You need to comment, comment, comment on other blogs in the same niche and backlinks to related posts in posts of your own.
    (8) You need to form relationships with other bloggers and create a blog centered community around your own blog.
    (9) You need to encourage your readers to comment on your posts and respond to their comments ASAP after approving them.
    (10) You need to participate in blog carnivals in your niche and become a guest blogger on blogs with a higher PageRank then your own blog has.

If you need help with any of those please click my username and visit my blog because I have blogged on each of those individual topics.

one of the tips is that you should read blogs from others
and especially in the niche of own blob, but where can I find

there is no site or an search page, I have been looking for a over

There’s a WordPress search box on every page on WordPress.com, in the top right-hand corner of your grey Admin bar when you’re signed in.

And if you use tags or categories, click on one of them on your posts: not the one in the sidebar tag or category widget, the one right on the post itself. It’ll go to the Global Tag Page where you can find EVERYONE on WP.com that’s writing about the same topic, listed from most recent down.

    @sip1966
Backlinks are incoming links to a website. A backlink is created when another site or a blog links back to your site, and the value of that backlink is related to the PR ( PageRank) of the site linking back to yours. A site with a lot of backlinks implies that many other sites link to that site. More information here > Understanding backlinks
