How do you get readers?

  • Unknown's avatar

Quick & to the point I suppose: How do you actually get people to read your blog? Like, are there ways to advertise them, or I mean..? Yeah, I think I could possibly start writing interesting things, just don’t know how to get it out there to people. Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Leave an electronic signature on your outgoing mail, typically under the options menu

Hmm I don’t really e-mail people too often, any other ideas?

Post in niche forums, but don’t shamelessly plug. Put it in your sig, and post around the place, and when talking about subjects you’ve covered in your blog link to it.

(Make sure when on forums you read the rules otherwise you may end up getting banned)

Also, network with higher profile bloggers, get noticed. Use facebook to tell people about your blog.

That’s some ideas, I just started out so I can’t tell you the reliability of the ideas, but try everything.

Also I suggest a better theme, look through the themes in Appearance and choose one that suits your blog. Also post pictures next to your articles, it draws peoples attention. Nobody wants to sit there and read paragraphs and paragraphs, so you gotta lure them in with a picture.

    Nice first article btw.

“Nobody wants to sit there and read paragraphs and paragraphs, so you gotta lure them in with a picture.”

This is going to end up hurting me. I want to start posting some creative writing. How will I do this? I mean, ok, I don’t want MASSIVE amounts of traffic, it’s going to mostly be so I can see how my writing grows, but I suppose I could eventually find those who are willing to read personal ramblings?

What I meant is when people see loads of paragraphs, their immediate reaction is “I’m not reading all of that” I wasn’t trying to say anything bad about your writing, it’s great!

Yer so my opinion is change the theme, or at least have a custom header, and accompany your writings with imagery.

Try doing a search of the forum. There are over a thousand tips here already, and us old-timers are too lazy to keep repeating the same things.

How do I create my signature? I want massive traffic. Thanx.
    Have a great day.

I didn’t mean on this forum, I meant on niche forums that reflect what your blog is about.

For instance if your blog is about gaming, find a gaming forum. I’d say 80% of internet forums allow for signatures.

I also discovered Digg and Reddit give loads of traffic, but don’t take my word for it, I just tried it just now.
