How do you get the “Home” and “About” links back

I am trying to start a new blog using the Sapphire theme, but when you add widgets, you lose the original links that come with the theme, such as the “Home” “About” and preconfigured RSS link, and for whatever reason, there are no widgets to replace them. I am wondering if there is any way to get them back, with their original color and appearance. I have already spent hours searching the forums to no avail, and I don’t not know how to do HTML or CSS. The blog is

This is where your widgets are found -> Dashboard -> Presentation -> Widgets
This is where you create pages -> Write -> Page

Thanks for the reply, but this still doesn’t answer my question. There are no widgets for “Home” or “About” and the RSS widget is blank by default. The “About” page still exists, what I lack is the original link that came with that particular theme, or any way of reproducing a link to it as originally existed.

i think using the page widget will put a link to your about page in the sidebar. as for a link to the home page in your sidebar, try the home link widget. as for the blank rss widget, you need to configure the widget so it will show your blog’s feed, or some other url you wish to display.

There are no widgets for Home because that is the blog itself; it doesn’t need a widget. The About page link shows up just fine.

The best way to control navigation in WordPress is to do some content FIRST, then and only then change the navigation. We get people all the time complaining that they can’t find their About page when they deleted it.

As sulz said, the RSS widget is preconfigured only in that you have to drop in the proper feed URL and it will work.

Thanks a lot, Sulz, that fixed it. To anyone with the same problem, the “pages” widget automatically produces links to all your pages, including the default “Home” and “About” pages or any other pages you added, but doesn’t work the same with every theme (I still couldn’t get it to display “Home” in the widget bar with the “Contempt” theme, but it worked fine for Sapphire). The Contempt theme has a “Home” link over the image header, though. It might be a good idea to add all the widgets to your page at once just to see what they do, as you can always remove them later.

Note that there is no “Home” widget.

I don’t. Never have. We’re using different templates.

are we? i thought wpmu means everybody gets the same thing.. ?

Some themes don’t display the “Home” page. Instead, the blog header is it. Also, some themes don’t display page links at the top at all. Instead, the Pages widget has to be used.
