    Good evening,

Here is a link to the help document that talks about how getting found in search engines work as well as how to make your site more accessible to the public: click here!

In essence, while you can control the basic privacy settings and the content for your blog or website, you cannot control when your site will get picked up by a search engine or how they will rank your site. Those details are up to each search engine, and they are always changing. If you are concerned, you should try to find information from the search engine directly in their help pages to find out what they recommend.

Why isn’t my blog in Google?
WordPress.com automatically sends notifications to Google with every post and page update. The search engines can take 4-6 weeks or more to add any new sites. Connecting a Google account with verified site ownership through Google’s webmaster tools may help register your site for inclusion. Please contact Google for more information.

Additionally, you want to make sure that your WordPress.com site is PUBLIC by double-checking your Privacy Settings: Privacy Settings do allow search engines and then write good content and descriptive titles for images.

I hope that helps! Have a wonderful day.

    Sarah,
I have checked several other search engines and the site is starting to show up. Thanks.

Any idea how to delete the Word Press rosette from the center of my title photo?

  • Unknown's avatar

    That’s wonderful! Congratulations.

That Word Press rosette is actually your Gravatar, which is also your profile picture (you can see that my Gravatar, for example, is of my pet eclectus parrot and displays next to my username here in the forums).

To remove the Word Press Gravatar(WordPress Rosette) from your theme’s layout entirely, click on “My Sites”, scroll down to the “Themes” section and click on “Customize”. Then, click on “Theme Options” and then de-select “Display Gravatar”. Click on “Save and Publish” at the very top, and it will disappear!

If you want to keep the Gravatar, but change it to a different picture, follow the steps here at this guide (this will show you how to change your Gravatar image.) The circle will remain where it is, but you’ll get to pick whichever picture you’d prefer!

Let me know if that didn’t do the trick. =) Have a wonderful day!
