How do you handle external links/backlinks on your WordPress blog?
-
I’ve been experimenting with growing my blog and wanted to ask for some advice from this community.
I know backlinks are important for SEO, but I’m curious how other WordPress users approach them. Do you mainly:
- Write guest posts?
- Share links in communities?
- Focus on organic content so others link to you naturally?
For example, I started a little project called https://ricepurity.info , and I’m trying to figure out the best way to build backlinks for it without coming across as spammy.

I’ve been experimenting with this too, and honestly, I’ve found that focusing on organic content works best in the long run. When I write posts that really help people, like how-tos, tips, or personal experiences, I start getting backlinks naturally over time.
I do some guest posting, but I’m careful to choose sites that fit my niche and have genuine readers. It feels more like collaboration than just link-building.
Sharing in online communities also helps a lot, but I make sure I’m part of real conversations rather than just dropping my link and leaving. When people find your insights useful, they tend to visit your blog on their own.
So right now my mix looks like this:
👉 Mostly organic content and SEO-friendly posts
👉 A bit of guest posting
👉 Occasional sharing in relevant groups or forumsIt’s slower, but it builds a stronger reputation and better-quality backlinks over time.
