How do you install a premium theme?

Bouncing around the web I was told to I may need to upload these themes to the /wp-content/themes/ directory using FTP software. This is all a foreign language to me. I have downloaded a premium theme and have the zip folder and everything, could anyone please help me with my next step. Do I need to buy a CSS upgrade? Or what? any help would be appreciated.

What you need to do is throw away the zip folder and everything: it’s for self-hosted blogs. In a wp.COM blog you can only select one of the themes available under Appearance>Themes.

You don’t. At wordpress.com the only themes we can use are located here > Appearance > Themes. At wordpress.com we do not have FTP access and cannot uplaod themes and plugins.
Please read this:WordPress.com is a hosted blog service. You do not have to download software, pay for hosting or manage a web server. WordPress.com does not permit uploading themes or plugins.
WordPress.org is free software. You can install themes and plugins, run ads, and edit the database. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ -

The CSS upgrade does not have anything whatsoever to do with uplaoding themes. If you were experienced at CSS editing you would know this and that upgrade is not recommended to anyone who lacks CSS editing experience and who cannot work independently, as there is no Staff support for learning CSS.
