How do you limit no. of posts in a specific category?

My blog has several categories which show 10 posts at a time (through Settings). Is it possible to target a specific category and only show one post at a time? One of my categories is labeled “Comics” and I want to show a single comic only instead of 10 at a time.
Is there a way to do this without a plugin?

There is one setting at settings > reading, but it controls the number of posts on all posts-related pages (main page, categories, tags, archives). There is no way to limit the number individually.

Is your blog hosted here at wordpress.COM or self-hosted? You mention plugins, and here at wordpress.COM, we cannot use plugins.

My blog is self hosted. There’s no way to limit them? So whatever category I click it will always show 10 posts at a time?
