How do you make an image in the widget section open in a new window?
-
I added an image widget.
The “Link URL (when the image is clicked):” does not give me an option to open in a new window.
I went to the Media folder, edited the picture, put a link URL, clicked Open in a New Window and saved it. It might not be related because it did not change anything. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Nancy,
Currently, it is not possible to set an Image widget to open the link in a new window. However, there is a workaround method that can help. You can set this image up in a Text Widget (as opposed to an Image Widget) and have the link open in a new window. To do so, follow these steps:
- Create a new post (don’t worry, it won’t be published). Add the image to the post and set it to link to the URL you want and open in another window.
- Click over to the Text Editor and copy the image code
- Paste that code in a Text Widget on your sidebar. The widget should display the image and link the image to the URL you mention as well as open in a new window
You can then remove the Image Widget to prevent a duplicate image appearing. Does that make sense? Let me know if this works for you or if you have any trouble!
