How do you make separate portfolios? (Blask Theme)
-
Hi there, I wanted to know how to make 2 different portfolios for the Blask theme. I just got started and I want to have separate folders that display my reviews and projects in a minimalist form.
I’ve only seen people make just one portfolio, though I’d like another. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You can can do this in a few different ways.
When you add a portfolio project, you can give it a tag and/or a type.
WordPress will automatically create archive pages for each tag and type, like this:
Project Type Archive – http://yourgroovysite.wordpress.com/project-type/project-type-slug/ Project Tag Archive – http://yourgroovysite.wordpress.com/project-tag/project-tag-slug/You can then link to those archives from a custom menu.
Other ways to display portfolio projects with tags/types would be to use the portfolio shortcode to create multiple portfolio pages:
Just let me know if you need further help with any of this.

Hi there,
I tried out the method but I’m still aloof. If you could explain in further detail (maybe visually, that’d be better) I would really appreciate it.I apologise for my incompetence, it can bother people!
Thanks

Hi Nishat,
We’re happy to help with any questions that come up. Please don’t feel like you’re bothering us. :)
I can see that you’ve created some portfolio items with two different types: Projects and Reviews. I also see that you’ve published two different pages with those titles and added the [portfolio] shortcode to them.
In order to only display portfolio items that have been assigned as a Projects type, you would need to use the include_type attribue, like so:
[portfolio include_type=projects]Similarly, to display only Reviews, you would use the following:
[portfolio include_type=reviews]Let me know how that goes or if extra questions come up.

Hi Siobhyb,
I tried it but the articles don’t separate. The Photographer’s Pouch is meant to be in the reviews whilst the others remain as projects. I’ve inserted the include_type attribute but there was no difference when I updated it.Again, thank you for the help, I really appreciate it.

The problem is that you’ve applied the Portfolio Page Template, which overrides anything you’ve entered in the page editor, including the shortcode. The Portfolio Page template is intended to be used to display all your portfolio projects and nothing else. On the Blask demo, you can see an example of the Portfolio template in use on the homepage.
If you select the Default Page Template for your Reviews page instead, that should give you what you’re looking for – let me know how it goes.

I’ve changed it to a Default Page Template and it’s successfully separated the posts but now, the portfolio look that you get in the Blask theme is gone. It’s all text now.
But thankfully, we are a step closer to achieving the look. Thanks

Unfortunately the tags and types have removed but not the excerpt and the title is underneath the featured image, not within.
-
Looks like you’ve already found the display_content attribute and set it to false to hide the excerpt:
[portfolio include_type=reviews display_types=false display_tags=false display_content=false]To adjust the position of the project title would require some Custom CSS, a feature available with the Premium or Business plans. If you decide to upgrade and need CSS help, please feel free to post in our CSS Customization forum.

Hello,
I’m after some assistance on this too – I’ve been around the houses but still struggling.
I have 4 test ‘portfolios’
They all display at wanderupon.wordpress.com/portfolios
Beneath that I want to separate them into ‘project types’ as:
Writing
PhotographyThen within photography, I want to create another 3 sub-types.
This: https://en.support.wordpress.com/portfolios/
makes it sound like it should just be a case of changing the slug, but I can’t seem to add anything beyond wanderupon.wordpress.com/portfolio/photography
If I try to add /people on the end for example, and save changes, it just defaults to portfolio/people
What am I mis-understanding?
I’m using Sketch.
Thank you!
