how do you post?

  How do you post on wordpress? Everything keeps telling me to go to my dashboard, but my dashboard does not have any option for posting. On the lefthand side of my screen all i see is “dashboard” with a bunch of dropdown options like “blog stats” and “blog surfer” but there’s no way for me to post.

  When you signed up here, did you choose the option WITH a blog, or just the option for a user ID?

  You can always register a blog by following these instructions:

  If you do have a blog, what is the URL?

  No i didn’t choose the option “with” a blog. I was told that I didn’t need to create my own blog to be able to make posts on other blogs.

  That is not correct information. Are you 100% sure you’re talking about Posts, and not just Comments?

  Yeah, someone must have given me the wrong information. So I need to register a blog if I want to create a new post on a blog that I’m subscribed to?

  You normally don’t need a WP id in order to comment, but some blogs do insist you have one.

  If someone wants to invite you to be a contributor to their blog, you’ll need a WP id. But we’ll need a link to the blog in order to confirm that’s what’s going on. Which blog did you want to post to?

  I think you’d better clarify: you won’t be able to make a Post unless the blog owner Invites you, following this procedure:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/

  To be Subscribed to a blog just means following it in blog surfer or via RSS, it doesn’t mean you get to post there.

  We’ll I’m able to comment on the blog… but does the person whose blog it is have to enable me to contritube independent posts to the blog?

  Yes, the person who owns the blog would have to add you as a user.

  There are different types of users—some have more control over posting and editing than others:
