How do you redirect email address submissions to external site?

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I’m currently helping a friend create a website for his entrepreneur coaching business.

In the site, I’ve created a page on the site for “Subscribe” (sticky post beneath the featured images) and “Schedule a Consultation” (one of the featured images above).

My friend would like to direct the email addresses submitted to the “Subscribe” page to his email list on GetResponse, an third-party email marketing site that manages his email list.

He also wants to direct the “Schedule A Consultation” page to his profile/setup on Calendly.

He wants to do these things without sending the web browser off-site. So no external links. Is this possible?

    Thanks in advance,

    Joel

  • Hi there,

Just to make sure I undestand, you want the contact form submissions to go to an email address different than the one used for your WordPress.com account? You can do that in the contact form settings.

Edit the post/page where the contact form appears. Click on the code representing the contact form and then click the button used to insert the form. That should bring up the contact form builder. Click the email tab, and you can specify both the email address and subject line that should be used for that particular form.

You can also change the email by editing the contact form short code directly:

I would recommend adding the contact form to a page rather than a sticky post.

For the schedule a consultation post, you can change the post title into an HTML link which will then go to the Calendly page when clicked. Note, however, that this can cause problems for visually impaired people using screen readers, and can also prevent search engines from correctly indexing the page.

The code you’ll need to use as the title is:

    <a href="https://calendly.com/psefaboakye">Book Your Consultation</a>

Another option, and what I’d rather recommend, is to add a custom link to your menu so someone gets taken to the Calendly page when they click the menu tab instead. See here for more info on making a custom menu:
