How do you register a domain?

    Hi

    I am having a great trouble trying to find out some very simple things I need to know about Word Press functionality. Here´s my story… I am an average Internet user with the basic tech knowledge. I have been reading that you can “turn” your WordPress blog into a normal website (mysite.com). I think I know that you have to pay $5 a year to register a domain, according to what I read on WordPress site.

    I want to open a news website, and basically, I want it to have some important possibilities:

    1) A mysite.com address (instead of mysite.wordpress.com)
    2) Archive tool (like the normal Archive feature in WordPress, where you can search for older pages and posts inside your blog. That means that when I add MORE news periodically, I want the old news to remain posted, instead of exchanging them for the new ones. That way the searches can be done.
    3) New themes availability.

    However, I am VERY confused about this:

    After reading this, I DEFINITELY don´t want a domain mapping. I just want a website and NOT a blog. I will have a single website and don´t need redirection. BUT I do want to have the possibility to choose new free themes whenever I want and maybe I want to use advertising. What are my chances inside WordPress? What are the payment methods instead of a credit card?

    It sounds like what you’re looking for is a self-hosted WordPress installation from http://wordpress.org/ not WordPress.com.

    To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.
