How does one edit category terms

I’ve some misspelled terms in categories or tags I’ve added and cannot find how to change or delete them. I can add a correct spelling to a particular post and it will appear alongside the wrong one, but does not replace it. Is this option available?

On your dashboard click on Manage>Categories. A list of all your categories should appear. In the ‘Action’ Column you should see two options: “Edit” and “Delete”.
You can take it from there. ;)

I tried what devblog suggested but it did not work. Taking that action deletes the posting, not the category. Anyone else?

devblog has given you the correct instructions to delete and edit categories. You have the choice of clicking either the “edit” or “delete”.
But perhaps you have not clearly stated your problem. If you wish to delete one of the categories you assigned to a post then here is where to do that -> Manage -> Posts
Locate the post, click edit and open it up, uncheck the category you wish to remove in the categories box, and click “save” to save the changes. -

A new page opened and I changed the name and clicked on ‘edit category’. I then get a message ‘Category not updated’
Have I missed a step somewhere?

No, it has about 20 posts in it. I have no idea if that is good or bad for the purpsoe, lol!

You might just have to try again. WP.com is having some strange issues tonight; avatars and headers blipping in and out, p’s being replaced with divs, all kinds of things.
