  how does one set up a button to link to amazon to sell books one has written?

  Depends: do you have an Amazon affiliate ID? If so, you can use an affiliate link to your own book, but ONLY the plain HTML link, either a text link or an image link, but not a javascript link like they have in the widget code. You can’t use their widget code at all, but you CAN make a text widget with a pic of your book and whatever text you like and put an affiliate link in it.
