If I Run A Contest WP does not allow me to let someone sponsor it with prizes
Ex : put a link that says sponsor contest or donate -
i have seen wp.com blogs hold contests with prizes sponsored by outside parties. they linked to it, yes, but i don’t think that is against the tos.
nevertheless you should contact staff and get their word for it.

scunite: i would, but that’s not the point. you need to get staff’s word that this is not against the tos. just because i’ve seen it done doesn’t mean it’s allowed, you know? :)
that said, i believe it’s allowed because it’s not for commercial purposes. the only thing they gain is hits, or so it seems to me.

I did it once for a contest I was running on another site, but I was very, very nervous about it. In retrospect, I should have just asked, and then I could have either promoted it properly or dropped the idea. Not worth the suspense.
