how does this happen?

    Howdy howdy.

So, this can happen sometimes for very recent stats. My understanding is that it ties in to how unique visits and visitors are determined, and as unique visitors are more time consuming to calculate, it lags a bit behind the individual visits. After a day or so, your data for that specific day should have everything sorted out and matching up.

Could you check some of your historical data and see if anything is looking fishy for data over 24h old?

In the past the delay has been 2 maybe 3 hours – but I had some strange visitor jumps and omissions the last couple of days – in the end the visitor counts seemed to be about right (I looked at some outside stats for my site to see the trend) – but the delay was over 24 hours – that had never happened in the past unless there was a system wide problem

I’ve just had confirmation from some of the Data folks that there was indeed a server issue over the weekend that has since been resolved. Sorry for the delay, but it should backfill the data appropriately now that it’s been resolved.
