How does transferring sites work?

  I’m looking to create websites for other clients. What would be the best method to carry this out? Am I able to make the website on my own account and transfer it to the client’s account, where they can make the payment for hosting etc.? Or would I have to buy a hosting plan before transferring it?

  Happy to help you with this.

  A plan would need to be purchased before being able to build a site, depending on the features required (https://wordpress.com/pricing/ ).

  It’s possible for you to purchase this and own the site, and then the site can be transferred ( https://en.support.wordpress.com/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/ )

  Alternatively, the client can purchase this on their account, and then you can look to be invited as an admin for the build: https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/ this would be dependent on the client doing this.
