How Does WordPress Work?

Wow, thats a big question right? Lol

However my question is rather specific as it pertains to hosting.

So, I noticed I can develop my website within the online portal. My first question is, how do I export everything I create within the wordpress portal.

Basically, I want to be able to use my current webhost, create and MySQL databases needed and run the software on my own website. Is this even possible, or does wordpress only allow your website to be on their servers? I really don’t want to use any type of forwarding on my domain.

Bascially, my biggest question is, can I download wordpress, upload to my website, and install from there?

    Thanks for the help.

There are 2 different versions of WordPress. The version supported by these forums is the version hosted here at WordPress.com.

But the answer to your question is that, yes the free open source WordPress software can by downloaded and used at your website using your current webhost. Most web hosts make the whole process quite easy, so I would suggest you check with them on the WordPress download etc. or consult your Cpanel.

For support on that version of WordPress you will want to go to the forums and documentation at WordPress.org. You will have to register there as a member in order to post in the forums. They also have a substantial collection of support documents.
