how does WP host domains?

    hi,

    I’m thinking of buying a domain name and was wondering how it would work if i transferred the domain to WP to host? I was trying to look for some articles or information on how this would work….if someone can please point me to the right link/page detailing all the info that would be much appreciated. some questions I have are:

    -how does the domain hosting work with WP?
    -how easy/complicated is it to transfer the domain name to WP?
    -what kind of support do i get from WP?
    -would i be able to add any advertising space/include any ad space on my site?
    -how flexible are the themes in terms of designing it (i don’t have any background on CSS customization/programming)
    -what’s the max space i have for my site?
    -what are the fees that WP will charge ie. hosting fees, support fees etc
    -what happens if i don’t want the site anymore? what happens to all of the content?
    -if anyone hosts their site at WP, are you happy? i realize this probably isn’t the right forum to post this question but if you can please share your experience that would be great.

    The wordpress.com Domain Mapping Upgrade does not enable the permission to use advertising, any kind of prohibited code, or upload additional themes and plugins. With the upgrade, your blog will still be hosted here at WordPress.com, which means that you will not have FTP access to your files and must still abide by our Terms of Service accordingly. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/

    In other words – nothing changes except the URL. What your readers experience is a seamless transfer between the original or root blog URLs to the new URLs. However, all the Google and Technorati authority, links and PageRank that the root blog has accumulated belong to it. Under the new domain your blog will start from zero again. That applies regardless of who hosts the blog.
