How else can I get links to display videos besides by clicking the unlink button

When I copy a link from a web site and paste it into my post I press the unlink button, but the link is still there instead of the video I’m trying to post. How else can I get the links to display the videos besides by clicking the unlink button.

Hi there,
If you are copying a link to a video from a site such as YouTube or Vimeo, you do indeed need to make sure that it is not a hyperlink. You can do so by pasting it first into something which will strip out all formatting. The best tool for that is frequently Microsoft’s own built-in text editor, notepad. All you have to do is paste it in and then re-copy the link. It will now be plain text and you can paste it in with no issues!

That did help, one of my YouTube videos is now showing. However, I am still having trouble getting my soundcloud link to show the media. I know it works because I’ve put soundcloud links in my posts before and the work just fine. Even last night one showed up. But even after I pasted the link into notepad, re copied and pasted it back into my post….nothing.
I’m ready to start advertising my blog again, but this is the only thing that’s holding me back!

Okay, I have the post saved in my drafts, I’ll post it so you can see what I’m talking about. Also, if you scroll further down you can see the same issue with many of my other posts.

OK, I see the issue. You need to be using the Share on WordPress shortcode for soundcloud. You can read about it right here:

As for your YouTube clips, for the ones that for some reason just won’t turn in to the video, you can manually set up the shortcode yourself on those too. It’s really easy. You just put the URL like so:
[youtube=(full youtube URL here)]So one of yours might look like this:
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9rSBcoX9ak] -
