How is it that I can have 227 hits from known sources and 1213 “hits”?

  That is, under “referrer” it lists 227 this “morning” (GMT) (229 now) and 1215 below in the “total views” area?

  Referrers is just that. Someone clicked on a link to a post or page in your blog. It counts as 1. If that 1 person clicked on 25 additional pages or posts or whatever, then you would have 26 total views. Also, if someone comes to your blog from a bookmark in their browser, then you will not get a hit in “referrers” but you will get a “view” off of it. And again, if that person that came from their bookmark visited 25 additional pages or posts or whatever, then you would have 26 “views” from that visitor.
