How is so much spam getting through Akismet suddenly?

    I am getting at least 5 spam comments a day, targeted mainly at one blog post from a year ago. How are these getting through as legitimate comments? Similar comments are in my Akismet folder directed at other blogs. How do I stop them?

    Howdy! Because Akismet “learns” by the choices you make, it’s important to mark these comments as Spam, rather than delete them immediately.

    I also recommend adjusting your Comment settings, and adding spammers’ emails addresses to your Comment Blacklist. Read more tips in the link below:

    The more you make adjustments like this, the smarter Askimet will become in order to best filter spam from your site.

    Unfortunately, spammers are smart, and their flood of marketing attempts comes and goes in waves. Every time they try a new approach, stragglers get through the net.
