How is this possible? Stats impossibly out to lunch

So, today, stats reports 9442 views on the bar graph and somewhere around 940 when I added up the enumerated views. This is nuts and useless.

I do not know why we have to tolerate such bad IT from what is basically an IT company.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I completely hear your frustration, especially when the numbers on sciencesprings.wordpress.com are off by a factor of ten; it makes the data feel totally unreliable. The discrepancy between the bar graph (total views) and the enumerated list (individual posts/referrers) usually happens because the bar graph counts every single server-level hit—including image loads and bot pings—while the list only displays views that successfully triggered the JavaScript tracking code on specific pages. This gap often widens when your site is hit by “referral spam” or headless bots that trigger a hit on your “Home” page but don’t actually load the content in a way that the individual post-tracker can categorize. While it’s incredibly annoying for a tech-focused platform to have these mismatches, the “True” number is almost always the lower one in the list, as the bar graph is likely inflated by automated traffic that isn’t actually reading your content.
