How long before a "redirect" takes effect ?

I just purchased the ‘redirect’ to take effect when people go to my old word.press.com site to my new domain site through Blue Host server.
How long does it take to become effective.
When I search google it doesn’t redirect me to the new site domain but still comes up as the old word.press.com site.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It can take up to 72 hours for the domain name to propagate throughout the internet after you have taken all the required steps. I’m in Canada and the blog is correctly redirecting to your domain for me.

It’s not unusual for your own ISP to be last to flush their caches. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.
