How long does it take for a deleted account's username to be available again?

  I deleted my old account, which was not in use for some time. But I need the username that was associated with it.
  I tried creating a new account using the same username but it says that username already exists. When I try to login using that username, it says the account is deleted.
  How long does it takes for a WordpPress.com username to be available again to signup or register in a new account?

  Hi arslanarrivy

  You can’t use your previous username on this site because you can’t delete your username.

  Note that because we don’t want other people to have your username in the future, it is not possible to delete a WordPress.com username.

  Is there any way I can merge two accounts? I can get my previous account back and merge the new account’s data in to the old one? Is it possible?

  No, it is not possible to get back your account as deactivating your account is the permanent thing.

  Hi there,

  If you did a username changed and discarded the old username in the process, then it cannot be re-used, period.

  However, if you “deactivated” the account and created a brand new account we might be able to help you via our account recovery process. But to tell you for certain I’d need to know what the username is you’re trying to use.

  The username, arslanarrivy, was discarded during a username change, not just abandoned, so there is no way to use that username any more.

  @floratavu140418

  That username was also discarded, so it is not possible for anyone to use that username again.

  I am trying to recover @arximughal and need this to be replaced on my other account, which has a username @arximughal43.

  I just pasted the wrong username in my reply. arximughal is not available, as you discarded it during the username change, as I said above.
