How long does it take for a new domain to come in place?

    I’ve just paid £18 for an upgrade to ‘thehumanwritesact.com’ rather than ‘thehumanwritesact.wordpress.com’, but it doesn’t look like it’s worked. My bank has confirmed the payment went through – is there a delay before the domain kicks in?

    Up to 72 hours propagation time is your answer.

    In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from, and the domain name you desire must be available for purchase, or you must already own the domain URL.

    You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard at > Store > My Upgrades to purchase upgrades for the blog.

    After you do the primary blog set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

    NOTE: There is no domain mapping upgrade for thehumanwritesact.com here at WordPress.com. Go back over those instructions please because you have not set things up correctly.

    It does not look like thehumanwritesact.com has been registered either

    Hi there,

    I don’t actually see an £18 charge on this account. Are you sure this is the account you were logged in to when you made that charge? As @auxclass and @timethief mentioned, the domain isn’t currently registered or mapped with us, so I’d love to look in to this further, but I need some additional information.

    If the charge went through at all, you should have gotten an email to the address which we have on file with a receipt. If you could please let me know at which email address you got that receipt, I will take a look!
