How long does it take for a new post to become active?
-
It has been more than 10 minutes since I posted a document which link wp is telling me is/will be:
https://ergosumus.wordpress.com/2023/12/06/tog-touch-of-god-linux-first-draft-of-a-rfc/
but it is showing under:
https://ergosumus.wordpress.com/?p=413
Why does it take so long?
lbrtchxThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, Publishing a post is immediate, unless you scheduled or backdated your post publication. https://wordpress.com/support/schedule-a-post-or-page/
Both the links you provided end up as a 404 error for me. The ?p=413 link is a temporary link that only you can see until the post is published. I also do not see that post in the list of “Recent Posts” on your 404 page.
Do you see that post in your dashboard of published posts? https://wordpress.com/posts/
-
Well, I have pasted again the wall of text, which I can see at:
https://wordpress.com/post/ergosumus.wordpress.com/421
So, what is the problem?
-
I also notice how your js reformats my text. How could I have it as plain text, as if it were just code? Is it possible?

Hello again, thanks for clarifying. So you do see that post title under Published Posts in the Posts dashboard? (As I volunteer, I can’t see where that post appears.)
My only other thought is that you may have accidentally published it as a Private post, which means only you and other Admins or Editors of your site would be able to see it when published.
I’ve gone ahead and flagged your thread for Staff attention and assistance since they can see what is going on behind the scenes. Thanks for your patience while they get back to you.

Hello again, if your post is not in Drafts, or possibly created accidentally as a Page, then I’m out of ideas.
Let’s wait for Staff.
-
But how come I saw it for a while? After a delayed (not automatic) refresh? Also, on my other wp sites, as you said, everything goes automatic. I can see write away what I have pasted on the editing form.
Let me try another of my wp sites!
-
OK, I tried on another of my wp sites, but I still couldn’t see how to commit a page after I had saved it. I have been using wp before fine and I don’t think that I am that “unexperienced”

Looking at your last screenshot, I see the “Schedule” button and not the “Publish” button. If you click on the Post tab in the sidebar, and not the Block tab, you’ll be able to see when this post is scheduled to publish after you click “Schedule”. Have a look at the support guide I linked to earlier https://wordpress.com/support/schedule-a-post-or-page/
Is it possible that the clock on your sites is not synced with your computer? Look at your site’s Settings>General to make sure the time is the same on both. https://wordpress.com/support/time-settings/
Just an FYI: As long as we keep posting here, it pushes your forum thread lower in the queue for Staff attention. Staff can see what is going on behind the scenes, so it might be more beneficial to wait for them to reply. But that is up to you.

@mathdoc4u, upon further examination, it appears that the post in question is still in your drafts. You can view the draft on your site’s front page through the following URL: https://ergosumus.wordpress.com/?p=421&preview=true. Since it’s in draft status, it remains invisible to others. It’s worth noting that, as Staff with superadmin access, we can also access and view drafts on the front page.
To make the post visible, you simply need to revisit the editing interface for that post and proceed to publish it. It seems that there might have been adjustments to the publish time, as it currently displays “schedule” instead of “publish,” as highlighted by @justjennifer earlier.
I trust this information proves helpful. Should you have any additional inquiries, please feel free to reach out.
