How long does it take for added domains to take effect?
-
Hi,
I registered a new domain, set name servers properly (checked whois).
– Added domain in settings
– Clicked “put blog here”But when I visit the site, it still displays my default registrar page, which is the usual “register a domain now!” page.
Any help would be nice,
Thanks,
Paul

After all of the DNS enteries have been changed, then it will take (on average) about 24 hours for the updates to propagate throughout all of the ISPs. It will vary because different ISPs update their DNS caches at different intervals and times, etc.

bian.us
thanks for the replies. So from what I understand, jamesewelch, you’re saying even though the changes to the nameservers show up, the effects of the redirection or whatnot hasn’t taken effect for my isp yet? so I just have to wait a while right?

If everything is done correctly, then it usually takes around 24-72 hours for the updates to propagate throughout the internet servers and make it to your ISP.

Which WordPress.com blog are you mapping bian.us to? Give us all URLs starting with http, please.
