How long does it take for imported entries to show up on your WordPress blog?

    I’m importing entries from both LiveJournal and Tumblr. And the importer has been running about twelve hours or so.

    So far, only 100 entries from my Livejournal journal have shown up. And only one entry from my Tumblr blog has also shown up.

    Therefore, how long will it be before my imported entries from both LiveJournal and Tumblr will show up on my WordPress blog?

    The WordPress blog that I need help with is https://meowmie73backupblog.wordpress.com

    Hi there @meowmie73

    It can take up to 24 hours for an import to finish as stated by staff-blorbo here. I’m tagging staff so they can give you a hand with the import.

    Hi there,

    It looks like both imports were stuck, so I’ve reset them both so that you can start again. Posts already imported will be skipped by the importer.

    Please don’t run both imports at the same time. Wait until one finished before starting the other.

    fstat, thanks for letting me know both about the imports and where they were at.

    Also, I will run the LiveJournal import first (as it’s the longest). Then when it’s finished, I will run the Tumblr import.

    I wanted to ask how many more entries in my Livejournal to WordPress export needed to be imported?

    In other words, is this particular import almost done?

    I’m trying to import my LIveJournal journal entries to my WordPress blog.

    I logged in with my usnername and password. And the page ran for about five minutes. Then it just showed a blank screen.

    May I ask what both what exactly is happening and if it can be repaired?

    I see that the import has stuck again and only 99 entries have been imported. How many posts do you have on your LiveJournal site?

    I am answering from my other WordPress account (as I deleted the one that you had replied to).

    I originally had entries from Feb 2003 to Jan 2011 on my LiveJournal account. But I lost the entries from 2003 to 2011.

    So now I only have entries from 2011 on. And the number of those entries is almost 6,000.

    As for my Tumblr blog, I have entries from around Sept 2017 to now.

    But as I looked on my Tumblr blog, only 99 of them have shown up.

    If importing both my LiveJournal journal entries and my Tumblr blog posts to WordPress isn’t a viable option, do you have any suggestions as to where else I could import these entries?

    You should be able to import your LiveJournal, but with that large number of entries, you may need to break the import down into more than one file. I think LiveJournal has a way to choose a time frame for an export, rather than the whole thing. Also make sure you export to a XML file.

    Try importing each chunk individually and wait for them to finish before starting the next one.

    Regarding Tumblr, since we’re both owned by the same parent company, we’ll be able to do more behind the scenes if needed. If you still have trouble there, let us know what Tumblr blog you’re trying to import and we can take a closer look. Again, don’t start that import while the LJ one is still going.

    After doing some thinking, I’ve decided that I’m not going to be trying to import any more entries to WordPress.

    It’s just a bit too complicated for me. And as a result, it leaves me feeling frustrated.

    Besides, I have all of my entries on LiveJournal. So there really is no need to import them to somewhere else.

    Lastly, thank you for your help. It’s been most appreciated.
