How Long Does Processing Take

  I purchased the upgrade yesterday and uploaded my first video today and the processing for the 2.5 minute video took 70 minutes.

  I’m working on a post now that will have two videos in it but the first one is still processing after 90 minutes. Is this normal? If so, this post will take nearly 4 hours to complete.

  I’ve seen this question many times on the WordPress forums but none of the answers seem to apply and most of the threads on this subject are locked without a single answer.

  We don’t want to continue using YouTube but if this is normal then VideoPress is not a viable alternative, especially at $60 per year.

  Processing can depend on more than just the length of the videos. The overall resolution and initial format/codec play a big role.

  For example, a 2.5 minute MP4 video that’s in standard definition will take much less time than a 2.5 minute AVI video in full HD.

  I took a look at the two videos you uploaded, and they seem to be done processing.

  Yes, the second one finally finished after 110 minutes. It is a 9.1 MB mp4.

  Is this normal?

  It appears as though the processing is completed after just a few minutes but it’s just not showing it in the upload screen. The third video uploaded was a little over 80 MB (HD) and after 7 -10 minutes it was showing completed in the media library but was still showing processing in the upload screen.

  Sometimes the upload screen doesn’t update, depending on which browser your using and how persistent its cache is.

  110 minutes for a 9.1 MP4 is a bit long, but it is possible that we could have had a large amount of folks using VideoPress at that time.

  It must have been the upload screen not updating since the third and larger video processed in just a few minutes but I had to go to the media library to find that out since the upload screen was still showing processing. If that’s all it is then that’s not a problem.
