How long does someone keep an address on wordpress that is not used?
I want an address and it apears someone has it. There is nothing on the site and it looks as if it was made in 2009. When would it expire so I can have it?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

How long? forever…
The site may not have any posts, but the owner may be using it in order to access a private blog. Or the owner may have it for the use of the api key and for Jetpack on a .org blog. In these cases they did not need a blog, only an account. But then the note would say that the name is reserved and you couldn’t use it: only the owner of the account.
Even if the owner were to delete the account, it would not be available:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/You could try to leave a message on the blog so that the owner could contact you about transferring the name/account to you.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-accountOr you could purchase a domain mapping upgrade (register a domain name) so your underlying wp.com address is not visible to your readers:

Or you could add a number before or after the name you want, or substitute a number for a letter, just so the name would be similar to what you want…
