How many Contributors can I have?

Hi there,
You can send out only 10 invitations at any point in time (spammer prevention). There is no maximum simply wait and send out 120 more.Also a couple of people have said they haven’t received their invitations?
Did they check in their email client spam/ junk mail filter as well as under the “social” tab in Gmail if they use it. If it’s not there then please post the usernames here.

I’m seeing a lot of spam posts in the help forum? If I post the user names here will they be secure?
Yes I did do a personal follow up with these people and added the check your spam folder advice.
These are people who filled in our Join the Forum contact form – some of them may have changed their minds of course but I’m seeing a pattern and I’d like to be sure the registration is working before we kick the site into full gear?
I’m also seeing several spammerish folks clicking the Follow button – would it be better to just delete that widget and have everyone send in the Follow request from the Contact Form?

Please note that filling in a contact form will not add someone to your site. That may be obvious, but I wanted to make sure that point was clear. :)
If you can post the users’ email addresses here, I can take a look to see if they were added (only staff will be able to see the email addresses, which are redacted from the public view).
As far as the Follow option goes, anyone is able to follow a blog. I wouldn’t really worry about it since all it means is that these people will be able to view your blog in their Reader and get email notifications if they choose. They cannot harm or interfere with your blog in any way.

No – I’m not worried too much about the Follow button – except there’s been some confusion from people who clicked on that AND signed up to be allowed to post their own content –
As for the original question – there is no limit on how many Contributors we can have right?
And finally – the create account and accept the invitation IS working just fine – just got 2 back so I think the non responders are either put off by the security measures we have or are just not interested any more.
I tweaked the language on our site to make it clearer about the sign up process so hopefully that will help.Many thanks!

Oh and actually the spam comment was in reference to some of the other questions posted in the WP Help Forum itself? it seems these buggers are getting quite clever at fooling the filters …

We have had ongoing attacks by spammers in the forums. We have been able to block a lot of them, but every so often they find a new loophole.
These same spammers are hitting lots of other support forums too. Awful stuff.

The spamming is awful, but even more awful is the fact that the garbage they spiel is aimed to suck in people with little or no education, but lots of superstition. That’s what grieves me most of all. -
I agree. It’s far more difficult to catch the posts than you might expect, but I think we’ve made some headway for this round.
