how many images can be in a gallery?
-
when I create a page and I insert [ gallery ]
how many images can I put in that page,
so the page will load fine on anyone’s computer .
…such as this page I have over 300+ images in the gallery,
is that too much for wordpress gallery page to load?
see pics of me on this page, does all 300+ load for you?
http://christopherfabbri.wordpress.com/links/2012-california/also, does the [ slideshow ] slow the images to load in the gallery?
Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks
alos, an idea, is there anyway the [ gallery ] code could be different and make the gallery appear in numeral orders in sets o f 20 or so?
hope this makes sense. thanks again -
I don’t believe there is an limit to the number of images we can upload into a gallery. There isn’t a limit stated here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/
I have over 300+ images in the gallery,
is that too much for wordpress gallery page to load?I don’t think the number of images is a WordPress.com issue at all. I think it’s a common sense issue. Consider the different devices that visitors access your site, consider the different ways they connect (dial-up, DSL, wireless, etc.), consider that we all pay to be online and then ask yourself what the tolerance limits might be.
see pics of me on this page, does all 300+ load for you?
I’m sorry but I don’t want to click into any page that has 300 images on it. May I suggest a tool you can use?
Test the Load Time of a Web Page
Enter a URL to test the load time of that page, analyze it and find bottlenecks http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/wc8aIiuz/christopherfabbri.wordpress.com/links/2012-california/ -

timet.
your help is nice.
another question..do you think the size of the thumbnails may load the full page quicker?

yes, well each image is under 1000 width and my thumbnails are under 100 width and I don’t put text under the pics, also I thinned out my widget area, so I am thinking these reductions on the page itself , may help the page load faster.
Yet I do have Cable wireless and it’s the fastest , or almost at the highest speed possible. What I would like is if someone could click into that page with 300 + images with dial up or with a DSL and let me know the loading time.I obviously could take out images of the gallery. Yet it would be nice if we had a [ gallery ] code that could separate the gallery into parts, or 1-20, 20-40, etc.
I hope this gallery idea comes into play, it would help us who would like to show lots of pics in one gallery, Thanks
chris
