How Many Pages Should A Blog Have
-
Hi
I have alot of pages on my site but I wanna delete the ones that are not really neccessary because its alot of work having to always keep up and update them due to so many pages.
The ones that I know for sure I wanna keep are the 90s are all that, Gossip Page, Imanism, Girl Power, Polls, Videos, This Thing Called Life, About Me, About All Things Bgc, Fun Facts, Slang Page and Poppin Events
This is because I don’t wanna have pages overlapping each other talking about the same thing
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, what I would suggest is to use posts instead of pages for your content and then set categories on those. That way you can add categories to your top navigation and then people can click on those to get all the posts in that particular category.
This support page explains the differences between pages and posts: https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
I would also suggest using a Custom Menu as it gives you a lot more control over the menu and also allows you to have submenus: https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

But Im still confused. How would I use pages as posts? Majority of the pages I have wouldn’t really make sense to me as posts

@koolbeanz247 you can have as many or as few pages as you’d like. Some blogs have one page, some have none but the posts page, some have a whole complex system of pages. MOST blogs, though, have relatively few pages compared to many posts.
Some blogs will organize posts into categories, like “videos” and “polls” as you have here. Usually they’ll be categories rather than pages. That makes it easier for people to follow topics they’d like.
Did you read the menus link @thesacredpath sent? It has a video that will help you a lot. And I think once you’ve watched that, this will help too:

Yes I read the link? And watched the video?
But I’m still kinda confused because how can some pages be posts if posts talk about a topic
Like you said videos and polls are usually categories instead of pages but how? Wouldn’t they fit better as pages? Like for some of the pages such as Randoms Things People Don’t Know, Fun Facts, Slang page etc how would those fit as posts
But are there any pages you would recommend me to keep and get rid of

Hi there,
As mentioned earlier the difference between post and pages.
This support page explains the differences between pages and posts: https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
I saw your website and found that Many Pages such as Fun Facts, Videos, Photos and many more can be used as categories and you can add multiple posts under that category.
I would suggest you have a look and decide which pages can be converted into posts under a specific category. -

There is no limit to the number of categories you can have, nor to tags, post or pages. It is completely up to you how you want to structure your site internally. There is no ideal or correct way, and no one can tell you how you are supposed to do it.
You need to decide how you want your site to work, then we can tell you how to set things up so it will work that way.

Yes. Cuz the thing is I have alot of pages but its to much work having to always keep up and update them due to so many pages. And I was told to use some of them as categories/Posts instead of pages

Pages should not need to be updated all the time. Pages are means for static content – stuff like an about page or policies, that don’t change often and that you always want visitors to your site to be able to find easily.
If you’ve been using static pages to publish new content on your site, then yes, switching to posts sorted using category pages will be much more effective. @supernovia gave you a link above to the instructions on how to set up category pages:
-
I already started using some of my pages as categories/posts to lessen the amount of pages
-
And also is it better to leave comments open or automatically closing comments after a certain amount of days. Is it good or bad

And also is it better to leave comments open or automatically closing comments after a certain amount of days
That’s also up to you.
One argument for auto-closing comments is that it reduces spam, but your site already has spam filtering enabled to take care of that, so it’s not really an issue.
Personally, I prefer to leave them open – I’ve had it happen a few times that an older post suddenly became popular with lots of people sharing it online and new conversations starting in the comments. Had I closed comments, that would not have happened. But you might have good reasons why you don’t want conversations to take place on old posts, so you can really do this just however you want to.
If you haven’t yet, you might want to look at our Blogging U courses – they cover many practical blogging issues like these and might help you get a better idea of what’s possible, and how you’d prefer to do things:

Just one last question. Is it safe to use pingbacks and trackbacks? I never used it before but don’t wanna damage my site in any way
-
Also is there a way to embed a rss feed on a page?
For these sites
http://www.eonline.com/news
latest.com
http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news
m.tmz.com/news
hollywoodlife.com/
http://www.thehollywoodgossip.com
hiphopdx.com/news
bossip.com/
radaronline.com/ -
Hi, you can’t add RSS feeds to the content area of pages or posts, but we do have RSS widgets that can be put into a sidebar or a footer widget area.
For the first two you listed, these are the feed URLs
https://www.eonline.com/news/rss
https://latest.com/feed/You will need to get the RSS feed URLs for the rest. You may have to contact the owners of those sites to get the RSS feed URLs, and it’s possible that some of them may not have feeds.
