How many people can access a private blog?
-
I would like to make my blog private for my students but can’t seem to find out how many can join. One video said 35 but that I could purchase more. I would like to send students a password to my private blog. Please help :-)

Hi there,
You can invite as many users to view your blog as you would like, however they must be in batches of ten at a time. When you send them an invitation, they will be invited to create WordPress.com accounts with usernames and passwords of their own to log in and view the site.
If you’d like, instead you can password protect each page and post with the same password, and once they enter it once then all of the pages and posts will be revealed to them.

Thanks that sound great, I see where I can password protect a post but can I password protect the main page?

If you set your site to show the posts on the main page, then each post would be independently password protected.
If you set a static page as your main page, that can be password protected in the same way (as all pages you create can): http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-visibility/ .

Thank you very much for your help! I am getting very close to what I need and could not have figured it out without you.
I have created a static page “Lessons” and set it up to be the post page and I have passworded it BUT the password doesn’t seem to work. it worked on the individual posts. I have tried several different passwords and am wondering if the old passwords are still active? if so how can I erase them?

Hi,
I have done some more tests and found that if I can password protect a page no problem BUT if I make that page the post page it doesn’t work. It would be perfect for me if I could protect it…is it possible

You cannot password protect the posts page itself. You need to password protect each post that you publish or the posts that you want password protected.
