How Move Comment to Different Page/Post?
-
Someone posted a comment under the wrong post. I want to move it to the correct post. How do I do that?

You have to delete that post and ask them to comment again in the right post.
That could be awkward. No other options? I would have thought this was a common problem that WP would have anticipated.

You can also copy the comment, make it on the right post, and then edit the comment to change the name, URL and email associated with it. You’ll need to make these edits in WP-Admin, as the My Site ->Site ->Comments interface doesn’t include an option to modify the email.
Once you’ve duplicated the comment on the correct post, you can then delete the original one.

Thanks Kokkieh—
That works, sort of. Because I had to create the comment on the correct post, the new comment still has the grey background of Admin comments, and my own icon is still attached, not one from the real commenter.
It’s good to learn that WP-Admin enables me to change the commenter name and email, but it still looks like I created it. Can this be fixed?

This doesn’t work as your profile picture (Gravatar) is stored in the comment and cannot change.
However, there’s a workaround. You can open a private window and post that comment using a bogus email. This will generate a comment with a blank profile picture. Then, you can go to your WP Admin dashboard and edit that comment to reflect the correct user info.

That will depend on what browser you are using, here you can find instructions for Chrome:

Oh, I thought you were referring to some kind of WordPress ‘private window’. I do know about those in the browsers.
And thanks; it is a workaround (logging in as someone else, pasting in the misplaced comment, then editing it), but it did work.
Time for WP to create a ‘Move to ____’ for misplaced comments. I don’t get many in my little blog, but I see them often on more popular ones.
Thanks for the timely help. Do all of you wear black shirts?
