How much space does media take up and where can you find it? $99?

Hello Happiness Engineers,
I have just exceeded my limit on media. I don’t know where I can see how much media I’ve used and how much space is left. Is the media only counted in the blogs posted, not the library? I deleted several unused images in the library and that didn’t help. Is there a way to decrease the media size after blogs have been published? If I scale down my photo sizes will that make a big difference in space used?
Secondly, last year I paid $20 for an upgrade. This year that’s increased to a whopping $99. That’s really too much for me to pay. Are there any plans between $0-99? There should be. $79 is a huge increase in price. I am happy to renew at $20 or $25, but $99 seems excessive.

* A free domain credit, that you can use to either register or map a custom domain.
* No Ads for your site.
* 10 GB of extra space, which also enables you to upload video and audio files.
